    The HS. Talent Acquisition Lead offers an enormous opportunity for immediate impact on our business, a large amount of responsibility, and a steep and continued learning curve. This isn’t a conventional talent acquisition role - you’ll be recruiting founders of some of the world’s most important health-tech companies.

    We are looking for an experienced leader in talent acquisition, with a demonstrable track record of building and managing high-performance recruiting teams and creative implementation of talent strategy. The Talent Acquisition Lead will be solely responsible for leading the team who ensure the best talent from across the globe is found, attracted and applies to HS. We'll train you on the HS. way of doing things and specialised knowledge, but very soon you will be the expert locally.

    What you’ll do:

    • Manage and grow the Talent team, responsible for the delivery of the talent acquisition pipeline end-to-end.
    • Localise and implement overall Talent strategy. You'll continuously transfer knowledge and sharing learnings on what requires local adaptation.
    • Work directly with the Exec Team to execute local talent strategy according to company goals.
    • Direct and track both high and low touch recruitment efforts to measure effectiveness.
    • Work with other key internal stakeholders from other teams such as Programme Director and Ambassadors
    • Conduct weekly check ins with Talent team members, set quarterly team goals (OKRs) and lead weekly goal-setting meetings.
    • Report weekly on key metrics and team performance.
    • Build a strong talent brand stemming from HS.'s overall brand vision.
    • Lead and manage Partner Programmes with universities, students and communities.
    • Lead bi-annual review cycle for the team.
    • Hiring and growing the team.

    What we’re looking for:
    Skills

    • Pipeline Management - you’re analytical and think in terms of pipelines. You dig deep to make improvements at every stage.
    • Managing and measuring work - you can set stretching performance goals with clear measurables
    • Upward management/reporting - you create tight feedback loops and can present clear headlines to important stakeholders. You know when the detail is needed.
    • Problem-solving and planning - you instinctively anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks. You solve them with logic.
    • Influencing and closing - you know how to set specific goals which lead towards desired outcomes and have a good sense of timing.

    Experience
    • Building and managing high-performance teams - you’ve had experience setting stretch goals for multiple direct reports and proven experience delivering results.
    • You’re great at giving continuous feedback and getting the best out of your team and share wins.
    • Pipeline-driven workflows - you’re familiar working with high-volume pipelines, leads, pass rates, and engagement metrics. You’re familiar making short-term and long-term ROI decisions.
    • Senior Sales or Talent role - you have been a manager in either a sales or recruitment team in a high-growth organisation.
    • Tech talent insights - you have an understanding of the tech talent landscape and know who the big players are.
    • Startup knowledge - you’ve worked with or for startups and have a good view of the local ecosystem.
    • A strong network to universities corporates is a bonus.

    • Motivating others - you enjoys developing people and purposefully connecting their work to the larger mission.
    • Proactive - you don’t delay action pending instruction or permission.
    • Data-driven - you’re obsessed with data and making decisions based on empirical information.

    Logistics:
    Reporting: You will report into the Exec Team based in London

    Start date: ASAP.

    Compensation:
    This is an important role for HS. You will receive a base salary of circa £50k/year + options, on top of significant upside via returns in our funds’ profits. We want you to live comfortably, but be incentivised by great outcomes for the portfolio of companies.

    The HS. Talent Team is responsible for finding and selecting the world’s best talent and health-tech founders. We are looking for someone to help us attract the top computer science and engineering researchers, both from academia and industry. You will help the next generation of health-tech founders realise why they should start a health-tech company.

    You’ll get to work side by side with the HS. team, our Venture Partners, our Science Partners and be able to make a huge impact in tech, business and health.

    Some of our best companies have been built by PhD students and postgraduate researchers turning their work into commercial ventures or utilising their unique skill set on novel hard problems. It takes a deep understanding of the academic sphere to engage researchers in the idea that starting a company is an attractive career path to maximise the impact of their research. In this role you’ll be spending a lot of time talking to the world’s best computer science and engineering PhD students about their ideas and research.

    Sometimes though, the work won’t be glamorous - there will be times when we all have to mop up beer stains after an event. What we can guarantee however, is that no two days will be the same and every small task is a crucial puzzle piece in HS.’s growth and success. You’ll help to build out critical parts of the business; we have big plans and we need high-performance ambitious individuals to help us get there.

    What you’ll do:

    • Sourcing and engaging postgraduates - one of your main research tasks will be to help us identify top postgraduates who we should talk to. You’ll be responsible for building a funnel of promising PhD students and postdocs who thinking about startups. This involves setting up meetups, organizing dinners and events, going to conferences etc.
    • Customer development - to make sure we give postgrads who join us the best experience, we expect you to become an expert in their specific wants and needs. Customer development should be data driven - we expect you to be comfortable shaping a recruitment strategy based on previous data points.
    • Selection and interviews - we interview hundreds of EF applicants over the course of the year. You’ll be involved in the selection process and help us select the best candidates.
    • Relationship management - we’ve built relationships with Europe’s leading universities, research institutes, journals and academics ranging from our Science Partners, CERN, Nature, MENSA and many more. You’ll own these relationships and make sure they help us find the next group of founders with exceptional research careers.
    • Data analysis - we’re a data-driven organisation, and we’ll look to you to pull out the most interesting insights for our postgraduate outreach strategy.

    What we’re looking for:
    We are looking for an ambitious postgraduate to join us. PhD candidates will have a preference as that’s the target group you’ll be working with. A technical or scientific background is strongly encouraged, and you should have:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, be comfortable engaging in conversation to a high technical bar and be a confident public speaker.
    • An outstanding academic track record and an armour of impressive achievements.
    • Familiarity with basic data science, as you’ll do a lot of analysis.
    • An interest in technology and startups is essential.
    • ‘Hands-on’ work ethic - we are looking for people who just get things done and actively seek ownership.
    • Fluency in more than one European language, as the role will involve European travel is a bonus
    • Startup experience, either as founder or early employee.
